Fragrance energy: Fresh-pungent

Properties: Uplifting, clearing, refreshing, stimulating, decongesting

Chinese medicine function: To raise Yang Qi, cool the Lung, release the exterior and strengthen the spirit

Pharmacology: This oil is dominated by the restorative, oxygenating constituents 1,8 cineole and monoterpenes ; these are balanced by relaxant monoterpenols.

Complementary blending: Lavender, Grapefruit, Lemon eucalyptus, Lemon, Green myrtle, Niaouli, Saro, Ravintsara, Silver fir, Siberian fir

Botanical source: Citrus x bergamia, bergamot orange
Plant part used: The rind
Origin: Calabria, Italy
Production: Cultivated and certified organic
Extraction method: Cold expression of the somewhat green bergamot fruits between December and March

Note: Bergamot oil is one of the few true hybrid oils of the materia aromatica. At some point in the past, possibly during the 10th century in Sicily, this citrus varietal was hybridized from the bitter orange and the sweet lime.

Fragrance profile: Our organic Bergamot oil beautifully delivers the same complex notes as its two parent plants. On one hand the smooth, fullbodied sweet citrus notes of the bitter orange peel; on the other hand, the fizzy, tangy acidic notes of sweet lime peel. The seamless interplay of these two notes is what creates the true Bergamot signature fragrance.

Fragrance energy: Lemony-sweet

Properties: Balancing, uplifting and gently warming

Chinese medicine function: To regulate the Qi, settle the Heart and harmonize the spirit

Pharmacology: High in esters (<57%), Bergamot oil isdominated by linalyl acetate, which has shown to be protective of nerve cells and generally balancing to the nervous system. The oil's chemistry itself is well balanced by relaxant monoterpenols and stimulant monoterpenes. These three compounds contribute to making Bergamot one of the few true regulating and balancing oils at our disposal. It is bivalently able to relax in tense conditions, and stimulate in weak conditions.

Complementary blending: Lavender, Grapefruit, Lemon, Coriander leaf, Neroli, Grand fir, May chang, Lemongrass, Juniper, Jasmine absolute, Roman camomile, Coriander seed, Helichryum

Caution: Bergamot increases skin photosensitivity: avoid any exposure to sunlight, including sunbed tanning, for at least 20 hours after applying Bergamot oil on the skin.

Blue Tansy:

Botanical source: Tanacetum annuum
Plant part used: The herb
Origin: Morocco
Production: Sustainably wild harvested, certified organic
Extraction method: Steam distillation of the fresh flowering tops in August and September

Note: This oils gets its name from its deep cobalt blue color, not from its flowers – which are yellow, not blue.

Caution: Blue tansy oil is commonly adulterated with other oils such as Yarrow, White mugwort and Moroccan wild camomile.

Fragrance profile: Deeply saturated fruity-sweet and apple-green notes, laced with an whiff of fresh spicyness. Similar to German camomile but sweeter, fruitier and less 'maltey' or 'seaweedy.'

Fragrance energy: Sweet-green

Properties: Cooling, soothing, relaxing, harmonizing

Chinese medicine function: To activate the Qi, nourish the Yin, clear heat and calm the spirit

Pharmacology: Blue tansy is highest in the sesquiterpene chamazulene of any oil: often up to 38%. Chamazulene is one of nature's most potent anti-inflammatory compounds and has shown excellent antihistamine and antiallergic actions in clinical trials. Other anti-inflammatory constituents that Blue tansy contains include curcumene, terpinen-4-ol and borneol. Its 3-12% camphor content ensures an equally good analgesic action.

Complementary blending: Yarrow, German camomile, Roman camomile, Helichrysum, Rosewood, Geranium, Palmarosa, Bergamot, Green mandarin.
